Diakron

A 4 track avant garde jazz ep (19m 20s) — released May 9th 2025 on Warm Winters Ltd.

Traversing ever-expanding fields of unified harmonic-rhythmic activity while carefully attending to the emergent poetics of unity and dissolution, Ināra Quartet invites listeners into the subtle in-between of musical meaning in their first public presentation of recordings: Diakron.

The ensemble, initially formed in 2022 and rooted in traditional practices of improvised and folk musics, here set out to explore the inner dynamics of the continuous bringing together of the distinct and pulling apart of the uniform; a music ultimately directed toward the pulsating potentiality at the core of silence, the inaudible light which illuminates our audible worlds.

The four pieces constituting Diakron enacts different degrees of merging and separation, ranging from the ecstasy of near-complete coalescence to states of the multistability and sonic disintegration. A collective and musically lived balancing act in the wondrous liminal space between unity and separation, this music attempts to evoke the recollection of the perfectly merged while immersing the listener in waves of multiplicity.

The Stockholm-based quartet—consisting of Johan Graden, organ and synthesizers; Kasper Agnas, guitar; Mauritz Agnas, bass and cello; Mischa Grind, percussion—is influenced here, by traditional Bulgarian music and Scandinavian folk music—notably Norwegian gangar music—, minimalists Terry Riley and Moondog, as well as Khalil Gibran and the Qasaid of the Mouridiyyah.

Just as Diakron is released, the ensemble is compiling their first full-length record, set to be released on Warm Winters ltd. in 2026, further deepening their shared focus into the poetics of unity and dissolution and its associated forms of attention and creativity.
